This Girl by Colleen Hoover (My First Book Review!)

Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.

In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from his point of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series

This girl is a retelling of Colleen Hoover’s Slammed. If you have not read Slammed it is such an amazing book and you should go read it now. Then read Point of Retreat. Theeeen read This Girl.

This Girl is the first book I’ve read that was the same book but in a different persons perspective. I’m really happy that this book was my first. When I first picked it up, I thought it would just basically be the same story told but in Will’s POV. It is that, but, the story switches back and forth from (SPOILER (highlight to see)) Will and Layken on their honeymoon and the story of their relationship that he is telling her. So that means we get new content of Will and Layken!! I first read Slammed earlier this year in March so I was a little foggy on some of the details. I found myself wondering what Lake was feeling or thinking in some of the scenes so I’d suggesting reading all 3 books back to back. Reliving the story from Will’s POV took me on an emotional rollercoaster. There is a poem that is performed by Lake that I just found myself more emotional over the second time than when I first read it in Slammed. I laughed, cried, and was frustrated throughout the whole book even though I knew how it would end.

I can’t talk about this book series without including my love for the siblings Kel and Caulder. I love them and their relationship with everyone. Also, the poetry! *sigh*

I loved all the new scenes we got with Will and Lake. Their relationship is just so cute and I love them. I really loved how strong they both have to be with what they have had to deal with. At the end of the book we get an epilogue with a little surprise that was amazing. Again the feels were being felt. I definitely recommend this series for anyone.

This book shows that although there may be rough times, and that certain things in life are unavoidable, things can still turn out good with time. Go read it!

I give this book 5 stars (come on, it’s Colleen Hoover! :) )
